Let’s Take the Genocide Out of Our Pill Bottles

Pill package with bullets instead of pills

Tell Your Pharmacist you Won’t Take Teva Drugs

Call Your Pharmacy Today to Opt Out of Funding Genocide. Step 1: Call your pharmacy. Step 2: Say no to Teva. You can request your medication from a different manufacturer! Example Script: "I prefer not to take Teva medications [optional: due to their complicity in the genocide of Palestinians and/or unethical business practices]. Could you please add a note to my chart saying 'No Teva medications, unless there is no similarly priced equivalent'?"

How You Can Boycott Teva

  • Call your pharmacist using this sample script.
  • Request a note in your patient chart opting out of Teva medications, requesting an alternate manufacturer for your medication instead.
  • Make the call even if you do not take regular medications.
  • This single act takes money out of Israeli apartheid.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT stop taking your Teva-manufactured medication if there are no alternatives available! Because of Teva’s manipulative business practices, they can sometimes be the only manufacturer available for certain medications such as inhalers.

Check if Teva manufactured your Current Medication

In center is brand name, generic drug name, 100mg, 100 capsules. On right is dosing instructions, storage information, safety warnings, manufacturer information, lot number, and expiration date. "Manufacturer information" text is circles in red with four red arrows pointing to it, showing this is where to look to check who the manufacturer of the medication is.
Check the manufacturer information on your prescription medication.

Common Teva Medications Include:

  • Birth control pills
  • Asthma inhalers
  • HIV meds
  • Antidepressants
  • Blood pressure meds
  • ADHD meds
  • Antibiotics
  • Thyroid meds
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy

Wondering if any of your current prescription medications were made by Teva? Check the label for manufacturer information. Note that the manufacturer is different than the brand.

Since Teva is primarily a generic (off-brand) drug manufacturer, almost all their medications have alternate suppliers.

Manufacturers can change with each refill, so make sure to make the boycott call, even if your current medication is not manufactured by Teva!

Find alternate manufacturers to Teva for any generic drug by searching the Drug Availability database on Drugs.com.

How Healthcare Workers Can Support The Campaign

  • Prescribing providers may note “Please dispense non-TEVA manufactured generic if available at same cost” in the “Note to Pharmacy” section of your prescription. NOTE: providers should always receive patient consent before making this request. You may create a .NOTEVA dot phrase in your EMR to simplify this process.
  • Providers can discuss prescribing these alternatives to Teva branded medications with your patients.
  • Ask your pharmacy to purchase medications from non-Teva sources.
  • Do not accept sponsorships or speaking engagements from Teva Pharmaceuticals.
  • Honor patient requests to add “No Teva medications when possible” into the allergy section of patient charts.
  • Encourage colleagues to join the campaign, and make the call yourself too.
  • Share experiences, ideas, and collaboration requests with us so we can keep growing and improving this campaign!
